Key Responsibilities:
We are seeking a Clinical Research Nurse to provide essential support services aimed at fulfilling the operational goals of the National Institute on Aging. The primary focus of this role is to deliver services and outcomes through the execution of support tasks.

This position requires working hours from 10PM to 6:30AM, Sunday through Thursday, with occasional weekend coverage.

This is a full-time opportunity based in a dynamic environment. Responsibilities include planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting care in accordance with established protocols and clinical best practices.

Conduct testing procedures during night shifts as per protocol or schedules.
Insert and maintain peripheral intravenous (IV) access as necessary.
Evaluate participants' physiological status upon admission and monitor throughout their visit and upon discharge.
Conduct follow-up assessments via phone, written correspondence, or email.
After completing training on human subject protection and receiving approval from the Principal Investigator (PI), obtain informed consent.
Document clinical and research data in medical records, case report forms, and/or electronic systems.
Assist physicians during examinations and procedures.
Perform phlebotomy to collect clinical and research blood samples as directed by physicians and in accordance with protocols.
Administer and document medications following physician orders.
Educate participants about the research program or testing procedures and guide them on computerized testing.

Implement appropriate action plans in response to emergencies or participant illnesses, including direct admissions, while integrating research protocol requirements into care delivery.

Adhere to established policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines for the disposal of biohazardous and chemical waste.
Implement quality control measures for participants.
After receiving documented training on human subject protection and PI approval, obtain informed consent.
Engage in development and training programs, both internally and externally.

Act as Floor Team Coordinator (FTC) during fire emergencies and manage evacuations to ensure the safety of participants, visitors, and staff.

Keep the Clinical Nurse Manager and staff informed about protocol progress and clinical unit functions; provide timely and relevant input on nursing implications for the NIA Research Unit.

#SOARQualifications:


Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) and a minimum of one (1) year of experience in Clinical Research, Medical, Nursing, or related fields.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is advantageous.
