Key Responsibilities:
We are seeking a dedicated Research Nurse to provide essential support services that align with the clinical and research goals of the CPN Lab. This position focuses on delivering services and outcomes through clinical assistance to research participants and the collection of research data. This is a full-time role.

  • Administer study medications.
  • Engage in patient recruitment and follow-up for clinical and foundational research studies, offering clinical support to participants.
  • Assist medical and research personnel in interviewing, screening, and assessing the suitability of candidates for research participation.
  • Oversee clinical and research support functions to guarantee patient safety and address their clinical needs.
  • Facilitate the informed consent process and ensure the protection of human subjects in research, advising patients on potential risks.
  • Participate in direct patient care, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to formulate and communicate a care plan that integrates clinical needs with research objectives.
  • Work alongside researchers and medical staff to secure and uphold informed consent and address the ethical and legal aspects of the research protocol.
  • Contribute to all study-related IRB and regulatory issues, including reporting requirements (such as deviations, unanticipated problems, adverse events) and promptly notify the research team of any issues.
  • Conduct precise data entry into the research database, utilizing standardized scales and assessments.
  • Support the comprehensive implementation, monitoring, data acquisition, collection, and reporting of all protocol elements.
  • Present clinical data in a manner comprehensible to patients while also providing interpretations suitable for healthcare professionals.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to assess and enhance current healthcare delivery systems and identify new practice patterns.
  • Engage in clinical practice and research support meetings, developing multidisciplinary performance improvement initiatives to enhance operational procedures, patient care, and reduce costs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) or an Associate's degree in nursing with an additional two (2) years of experience in lieu of a BSN.
  • Active Maryland State Nursing License.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of nursing experience.
  • Capability to obtain CPR certification.
  • Basic Life Support training.
  • Phlebotomy skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
