Role Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Research Nurse to provide essential support services aligned with the operational goals of the National Institute on Drug Abuse. This full-time position is focused on delivering high-quality services through effective support operations.

  • Engage in direct patient care, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to develop and communicate comprehensive care plans that integrate clinical needs with research objectives.
  • Apply the nursing process to assess, plan, execute, and evaluate care for a diverse patient population with varying health requirements.
  • Administer nursing care in accordance with established protocols, including tasks such as blood draws, EKGs, point-of-care testing, and medication administration.
  • Evaluate complex health education needs specific to individual patient groups.
  • Provide detailed information regarding research studies to referring physicians, advocacy organizations, and potential study participants.
  • Serve as an advocate for patients involved in research initiatives.
  • Address and resolve any issues that may arise during the course of studies.
  • Assist in the implementation, monitoring, data collection, and reporting of all aspects of clinical protocols.
  • Manage research data through databases to ensure accurate and reliable data entry.
  • Oversee activities related to clinical protocols, including patient recruitment, retention, and monitoring trial progress.
  • Act as a nursing resource, offering continuous support to research team members.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing.
  • Valid Nursing License in the state of Maryland.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of nursing, research, or clinical experience.
  • Proficiency in Phlebotomy.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPR Certification.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in Neurology, Psychiatry, or Addiction treatment settings.
