Position Summary:

The Project Architect is responsible for researching, planning, designing, and overseeing building projects to ensure that objectives are met within specified timelines and budget constraints.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with clients to ascertain functional and spatial needs for new constructions or renovations, providing detailed information on design, specifications, materials, costs, and timelines.
  • Conduct site visits to familiarize with existing conditions.
  • Prepare fee proposals and project budgets for approval.
  • Coordinate project personnel activities to ensure timely progress and adherence to budget.
  • Design project layouts and integrate engineering components into a cohesive design for client evaluation.
  • Create scale drawings and contract documents for contractors.
  • Act on behalf of clients to secure bids and award construction contracts.
  • Manage construction contracts and perform regular site observations to ensure compliance with plans.
  • Compile studies and reports as necessary.
  • Utilize computer-aided design software to prepare project designs and plans.
  • Oversee the work of staff preparing drawings and specifications.
  • Address client issues and provide technical guidance to project teams.
  • Conduct final quality assurance reviews of project documents.
  • Sign and seal project documents prepared under supervision.
  • Adhere to safety regulations for construction sites.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of architectural design principles, styles, and construction methods.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze written communications, specifications, and drawings.
  • Proficient in drafting reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals.
  • Strong presentation skills to effectively communicate with various stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant software.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Possession of a valid Virginia driver's license with a clean driving record.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited five-year architectural program.
  • Active architectural license in Virginia and a current NCARB record.
  • Completion of licensure training and testing within the designated timeframe.
