Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with clients to ascertain their functional and spatial needs for new constructions or renovations, while preparing detailed information on design, specifications, materials, and estimated costs.
  • Conduct site visits to familiarize yourself with existing conditions and project requirements.
  • Prepare fee proposals and budget estimates for departmental approval.
  • Oversee project personnel to ensure timely progress and adherence to budget constraints.
  • Design project layouts and integrate engineering elements for client review.
  • Create scale drawings and contract documents for construction teams.
  • Act as a liaison for clients during the bidding process and contract awards.
  • Manage construction contracts and perform regular site observations to ensure compliance with design plans.
  • Compile studies and reports related to project progress.
  • Utilize computer-aided design software to develop project plans and designs.
  • Guide team members in preparing drawings and specifications.
  • Address client concerns and provide technical guidance to project staff.
  • Conduct final quality assurance reviews of project documents.
  • Ensure compliance with site safety regulations.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of architectural design principles, construction methods, and building styles.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret specifications and technical drawings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
  • Active architectural license in Virginia and a current NCARB record.
  • Completion of licensure training and testing within the required timeframe.
