The Concrete Operations Superintendent plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective coordination and supervision of all concrete-related activities on-site. This position is responsible for maintaining high standards of quality, adhering to project schedules, and managing budgets effectively. The Superintendent collaborates closely with General Contractors to ensure the seamless sequencing of construction tasks and maintains regular communication with Operations Managers and Project Management teams for optimal resource allocation and project execution.
Role Overview: The Concrete Operations Superintendent will oversee all concrete construction activities, ensuring that operations align with project timelines and budgetary constraints. This role requires daily interaction with Project Management to facilitate successful communication and project execution. Key responsibilities include:
  • Collaborating with Operations Managers to establish and maintain concrete schedules.
  • Supervising on-site concrete construction processes to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Monitoring budget adherence regarding labor and material costs.
  • Organizing and scheduling field labor to optimize performance and productivity.
  • Coordinating with subcontractors to ensure effective planning and execution of tasks.
  • Preserving quality throughout the concrete construction process while maintaining budgetary limits.
  • Tracking project progress and reporting findings on a regular basis.
  • Accurately capturing and reporting labor hours for field personnel.
  • Identifying potential issues and delays, providing proactive solutions to mitigate challenges.

Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial or industrial concrete construction, particularly on projects exceeding $2 million, with a focus on Tilt-up Construction.
  • Proven experience as a Concrete Superintendent is essential.
  • Strong supervisory skills to effectively manage construction teams and ensure project completion within budget and timelines.
  • Ability to foster positive relationships with all stakeholders, including management, owners, trades, and subcontractors.
  • Proficient in balancing and prioritizing multiple project deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Solid understanding of safety protocols and practices within the construction industry.
  • Above-average technological proficiency related to construction management.
  • Strong work ethic with a willingness to travel or relocate as necessary, potentially up to 100% based on project requirements.
  • Physical capability to lift objects weighing at least 60 lbs and work in various environmental conditions.
  • Experience working in environments with moderate to high noise levels and potential exposure to hazards.

Required Skills:
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in various aspects of concrete construction, including footings, walls, flatwork, tilt-up, and paving.
  • Understanding of scheduling concrete work activities in relation to other trades and scopes of work.
  • Strong listening skills, relationship-building abilities, flexibility, negotiation skills, and the capacity to handle constructive feedback.
