Position Overview

Tilson is actively seeking qualified candidates to oversee our concrete restoration team as a Crew Leader. This team will collaborate closely with our underground construction crew focused on fiber-to-the-home projects to restore, remove, or replace damaged sidewalk panels, concrete driveways, asphalt roadways, and other similar hard surface tasks in both residential and commercial areas. We are looking for applicants with expertise in managing concrete laborers engaged in flat work, asphalt repair, and the restoration of sidewalks, curbs, and related structures. Ideal candidates will possess experience in setting and stripping forms, mixing, pouring, and finishing concrete, tying and cutting rebar, and handling materials. Crew Leader candidates must have substantial experience with concrete and asphalt and be capable of supervising a team of laborers, ensuring safety, productivity, and restoration activities are executed effectively on a daily basis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise concrete restoration teams
  • Work alongside restoration crews
  • Conduct daily Job Safety Analysis presentations
  • Maintain daily records of completed tasks
  • Perform demolition, repair, restoration, and replacement of hard surfaces, including sidewalks and roadways
  • Possess knowledge of various concrete and asphalt repair techniques
  • Mix concrete and additives
  • Execute concrete and asphalt finishing tasks
  • Work with both hot and cold mix asphalt
  • Manage materials effectively
  • Plan job activities
  • Uphold safety policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned in line with job responsibilities
Qualifications
  • Mastery level skillset with 5+ years of experience preferred; all crew leaders also participate as working crew members
  • Previous experience as a Crew Leader preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License
  • OSHA 10/30 certification
Physical Requirements and Work Environment

This position operates in a field environment, requiring extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and lifting, including lifting in awkward positions. Employees may work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.

The physical demands outlined here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This role is physically active, necessitating the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

While performing the duties of this position, employees are regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions, frequently encounter wet and/or humid environments, moving mechanical parts, high and precarious locations, and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is typically very loud.

Must be at least 21 years of age to meet Tilson's driving eligibility requirements.
