Position Summary:

Under the general guidance of the County Treasurer, the Vehicle Registration and Tax Administration Clerk is tasked with a range of clerical and administrative responsibilities associated with the operations of the Motor Vehicle Division and Property Tax Division within the Treasurer's Office. This role necessitates proficiency in the State's licensing software to manage vehicle registrations and tax-related duties effectively. A significant portion of the role involves direct interactions with the public regarding vehicle licensing inquiries.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide assistance to the public with inquiries related to vehicle licensing and registration, as well as State and County regulations.
  • Process vehicle registrations, issue license plates, and perform related administrative tasks.
  • Offer information regarding taxes on real estate, mobile homes, and personal property, including relevant regulations.
  • Create invoices, receipts, and collect taxes on real estate, mobile homes, and personal property.
  • Conduct database searches to provide accurate information to eligible requestors.
  • Manage payments and fees according to established financial protocols.
  • Deliver clerical support including typing, filing, and mail handling.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proficient in using standard office equipment (computer, typewriter, calculator, fax, copier).
  • Familiarity with standard computer applications (word processing, spreadsheets, databases).
  • Basic knowledge of record keeping and accounting principles.
  • Ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Physical capability to lift and handle boxes weighing up to 25 lbs.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in an office environment with clerical and administrative responsibilities, including public interaction.
  • Valid driver's license is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Additional education or training relevant to the position is advantageous.
Work Environment:

This position is primarily office-based.

Physical Requirements:
  • Extended periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift and manage boxes weighing up to 25 lbs.
