Your Team Responsibilities

MSCI is seeking a talented individual to become part of the Private Capital Research team. This team plays a crucial role in analyzing various private market sectors, including private equity, private real estate, private infrastructure, and private credit.

The Team:

  • Generates and disseminates insights derived from the comprehensive and industry-leading MSCI private capital dataset.
  • Engages regularly with clients to comprehend their requirements and discuss ongoing research.
  • Develops innovative methodologies to address urgent client challenges.
The selected candidate will conduct advanced research utilizing MSCI's data and provide economic insights into trends within private capital. A significant aspect of this role involves articulating your findings both in writing and verbally.

You will have frequent interactions with clients, present to large groups, and communicate your ideas through various formats, including blog posts and detailed whitepapers.

What We Offer You

Salary Range:
$156,000 - $203,000 / year, plus eligibility for an annual bonus

Your Key Responsibilities

As a Private Equity Research Analyst, you will:

  • Conduct pioneering quantitative research using the unique MSCI private capital dataset alongside various other financial datasets available within the organization.
  • Effectively communicate research outcomes and their significance to clients through publications, meetings, webinars, and conferences.
  • Engage with MSCI clients regularly to explain our research and understand their analytical needs to inform future product development.
  • Collaborate with other teams within MSCI and with clients on customized projects, integrating private markets with other MSCI data and capabilities.
  • Act as a liaison between different groups within MSCI Research, including Index Research, analytics researchers, and ESG/Climate researchers.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • This role does not focus on software development, although quantitative research will involve the use of tools such as R or Python.
Your Skills and Experience That Will Help You Excel

  • 8+ years of experience in the finance sector conducting empirical research; experience in private capital is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Proficient in R or Python; strong SQL skills.
  • A highly self-motivated individual with critical thinking abilities, curiosity, and excellent communication skills.
  • An advanced degree in economics, finance, financial engineering, mathematics, operations research, physics, statistics, or another quantitative field. A PhD is preferred.
