We are currently seeking a Biotechnology Equity Research Trainee to join our esteemed Biotechnology Research Group.

In the realm of equities, our sales and trading teams facilitate public offerings in our core sectors, allocating significant levels of firm capital to ensure optimal aftermarket support. We operate as a market maker and engage in transactions involving thousands of securities, offering traditional, algorithmic, and program trading methodologies. Our team of senior analysts delivers industry-leading, in-depth sector research on a vast array of stocks, empowering our investors with focused, top-tier macro research. Our analysts, recognized by Institutional Investor, employ independent processes that yield impartial insights into economic trends, energy, portfolio strategy, technical analysis, policy actions, and political developments. This Equity Research Trainee position is designed for an ambitious individual eager to contribute meaningfully to our Biotechnology group. The selected candidate will:

  • Collaborate closely with senior analysts to conduct comprehensive company and industry research
  • Develop financial models and perform valuation analyses
  • Draft company reports, industry analyses, and investment recommendations
  • Engage with company management teams and interview customers, suppliers, and competitors
  • Participate in company visits and attend trade shows and industry conferences
  • As trainees gain industry knowledge, they will take on additional responsibilities in marketing their team's research and investment recommendations to our sales force and institutional investors, venture capitalists, and both private and public companies

  • Excellent quantitative and organizational abilities
  • A competitive spirit complemented by a proven capacity to collaborate effectively within a team
  • Solid background in biological sciences, with a preference for candidates holding a Bachelor's, Master's, MD, or PhD; a basic understanding of financial accounting is preferred but not mandatory
  • Completion of degree program is required
  • Strong writing and financial modeling experience is essential
  • SIE, Series 86, and 87 licenses are required (or a willingness to obtain them within a specified timeframe)

The anticipated starting salary range for individuals expressing interest in this position is competitive, with placement dependent upon experience. This position is also eligible for annual incentive compensation, which will be part of the total compensation package. Total compensation for this role will align with market standards.
