Hearth & Home Technologies is seeking an External Sales Consultant for Builders to join our dynamic team.

As a leading distributor and retailer of fireplace products in North America, we pride ourselves on our extensive network of hearth experts dedicated to providing exceptional service and support.

Role Overview

This position is essential in driving the vision and objectives of Hearth & Home Technologies by establishing new builder partnerships and nurturing existing relationships within the designated market. The ideal candidate will uphold the highest standards of customer satisfaction through professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to being a trusted resource in the industry.

Key Responsibilities

To excel in this role, the individual must effectively manage the following duties:

  • Identify and prioritize potential leads through market research, site visits, and referrals; engage decision-makers through various outreach methods to explore business opportunities.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy for the assigned territory and accounts.
  • Maintain a detailed lead database, including product offerings, key contacts, and relevant information to convert leads into clients.
  • Create and update builder account files, ensuring all necessary documentation is current and accessible.
  • Regularly visit builder clients to strengthen relationships, provide updates on products, and identify additional opportunities.
  • Keep builder clients informed about pricing, services, and new product launches.
  • Organize and conduct sales presentations and product demonstrations for current and prospective clients.
  • Assess site requirements based on building plans and recommend suitable products to clients.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to ensure all project requirements are met, including materials and installation needs.
  • Generate quotes using our internal systems, clearly communicating timelines and installation processes to clients.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, product offerings, and company updates through ongoing training and participation in meetings.
  • Provide training to builder sales teams on product features and benefits.
  • Attend sales meetings to report on lead progress, market engagement, and sales metrics to management.
  • Review all cash sales in collaboration with branch management to ensure accurate product and pricing information.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Competencies

  • Proven territory and account management skills, including cold calling experience.
  • Ability to think strategically while achieving short-term objectives.
  • Self-motivated with a strong drive for success, even in challenging situations.

  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.

Education and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Sales, Marketing, or a related field, along with 3-5 years of successful sales experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience in training others on product features and benefits.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3-4 years of experience in the hearth or construction industry.
