Job Summary

Bering Straits Native Corporation (BSNC) is seeking a highly skilled Accounting Manager to join our team in Anchorage, AK. As a key member of our corporate office, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of general ledger accounting, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial information, and maintaining compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and publish monthly and yearly financial statements, as well as other management reports as needed.
  • Accounting Operations: Oversee all aspects of general ledger accounting, including preparation, review, and approval of monthly journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.
  • Internal Controls: Monitor and enforce internal controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards, including GAAP, FAR, and other applicable guidelines.
  • Revenue Recognition: Prepare and analyze monthly revenue recognition and approval of revenue formula according to ASC 606.
  • Financial Analysis: Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget and assist in preparing annual budgets as needed.
  • Unbilled Accounts: Monitor and ensure timely billing of unbilled accounts.
  • Compliance Reporting: Prepare and review financial information for compliance reporting to various government agencies.
  • Audit Support: Assist with preparing audit schedules and financial data for annual financial statements audit.
  • Financial Guidance: Provide timely reviews of the organization's financial status and progress in its various programs and activities.
  • Financial Training: Mentor and train lower-level staff.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: Five years of Deltek Costpoint accounting system experience in a multicompany environment or similar ERP system.
  • Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, ability to write reports and business correspondence, and effective presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum of ten (10) or more years of experience in the field.
  • Certifications: CPA or CMA certificate (or imminent CPA/CMA candidates).
Work Environment

The job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, and mouse. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
