Position Summary:

Services for the UnderServed is in search of a Facility Manager to oversee the operations of our women's shelter.

The Facility Manager is essential in ensuring the effective functioning of the shelter premises. This role involves structured oversight of operational personnel and offering direction to contracted maintenance teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise operational and maintenance staff, including contracted maintenance personnel. Responsibilities encompass regular supervisory meetings, creating work schedules, approving timesheets, and managing time-off requests; coordinating assignments; and reviewing documentation such as Security Logs and Maintenance Work Order Logbooks.
  • Ensure the shelter facilities are well-maintained and promptly address any building violations.
  • Facilitate training, development, and evaluation of maintenance staff. May need to perform custodial duties in their absence.
  • Participate in inspections conducted by relevant authorities.
  • Maintain fire safety protocols, which include:
    • Developing and implementing a Fire Safety plan, training all staff on fire safety procedures and evacuation protocols.
    • Organizing monthly fire drills and keeping accurate fire drill records.
    • Conducting regular inspections to identify fire safety hazards and ensuring all fire prevention systems are operational.
    • Coordinating the servicing and documentation of all fire safety equipment.
    • Providing new program clients with essential fire safety and prevention information.
  • Monitor both the interior and exterior of the facility to ensure client safety, prevent property damage or theft, and mitigate emergency situations.
  • Guide clients on maintaining their living spaces, particularly regarding pest control.
  • Drive program vehicles as necessary.
  • Conduct routine inspections of the building and grounds, reporting findings to Central Maintenance.
  • Respond to emergencies and crises, contacting appropriate authorities as needed.
  • Attend team meetings and participate in relevant training sessions.
  • Adhere to an on-call system for crisis intervention and urgent situations.
  • Maintain CPR/First Aid and F-80 certifications.
  • Availability for weekend and evening shifts is required, with additional shifts as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by senior leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in a relevant field with 2-5 years of related experience.
  • High School diploma with 5-7 years of relevant experience in building management or shelter operations.
  • Required Safety Director (F-80) and/or Security Guard license in NYS.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Should demonstrate forward-thinking, collaborative, and strategic planning abilities.
  • Exhibit innovation in enhancing program design and service delivery.
  • Proven ability to cultivate and manage relationships with team members, funders, and the broader service community.
