Job Summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a highly skilled IT Project Manager I to join our team. As a key member of our project management team, you will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating activities of small to medium scale and complexity technology projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Under the guidance of management, ensure project outcomes match agreed upon customer expectations.
  • Effectively communicate project information to stakeholders through agreed upon channels and timelines.
  • Lead project-related meetings and gain consensus on outcomes and goals.
  • Plan and organize projects, including formulating and defining scope and objectives.
  • Determine time frame, funding limitations, and procedures for accomplishing project(s) according to Portfolio and Process Management Office guidelines.
  • Identify and schedule project deliverables, milestones, and required tasks.
  • Establish the project quality plan, including the application of PMO testing standards.
  • Under guidance of management, establish the project risks and mitigation plans.
  • Adhere to standards and procedures for project initiation, planning, execution, control, monitoring, and closure defined by the Portfolio & Process Management Office.
  • Prepare the Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) for the project and assist IT Financial Analyst(s) with the approval process.
  • Manage Purchase Orders (PO) and invoices throughout the project life cycle.
  • Closes all project expenditures at the end of the project.
  • Propose opportunities to improve the Portfolio & Process Management Office and participate in improvement initiatives.
  • Proactively manage own professional development and complete Individual Development Plan (IDP).
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related discipline with an information technology focus or four years of experience managing small to medium scale projects required in lieu of degree.
  • Project management skills with ability to multitask and manage multiple projects in a cross-functional environment.
  • Ability to deliver projects using leading-edge technology.
  • Solid knowledge of current technologies.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of business needs, with the ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively facilitate meetings.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to operate under a dual reporting relationship (IT, customers).
  • Solid knowledge in Microsoft Office products.
