Job Overview

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is in search of a Lead Procurement Specialist for our Aerospace & Defense sector.

** Required: 7-10 years of experience in Aerospace Fastener Procurement **

The Lead Procurement Specialist will be tasked with advanced sourcing initiatives, strategically negotiating Long Term Agreements with suppliers, and ensuring timely processing of requests for quotes (RFQ) and purchase orders. This role requires building and maintaining supplier relationships to secure optimal pricing and delivery, along with a comprehensive understanding of goods procurement. Additionally, the Lead Procurement Specialist will oversee the work of other procurement staff.

Key Responsibilities
In fulfilling their respective duties, all employees are expected to adhere to the following:

  • Manage complex and evolving commodities.
  • Accountable for high-value spending items.
  • Generate bid-to-buy orders for products not under existing contracts.
  • Conduct research to select and acquire quality products and materials.
  • Establish precise monitoring systems, metrics, and purchase orders.
  • Review and authorize purchase orders and RFQs from other procurement staff.
  • Procure assigned commodities to fulfill specialized requirements.
  • Implement new supplier LTAs by considering customer usage patterns.
  • Engage in detailed negotiations regarding pricing, delivery schedules, and lead times for assigned commodities.
  • Review, analyze, and expedite Material Requisition Planning (MRP) daily.
  • Manage inventory in alignment with departmental objectives.
  • Develop and maintain defined inventory levels for purchased finished goods and assigned commodities.
  • Analyze and manage excess and obsolete finished goods, coordinating with the warehouse for material disposition.
  • Monitor supplier performance for quality, accuracy, and delivery timelines.
  • Manage lead times by obtaining supplier updates regularly.
  • Prevent obsolescence and excess finished goods by tracking product revisions.
  • Resolve invoicing and receiving discrepancies within the department and with suppliers.
  • Integrate newly sourced products and suppliers into the procurement portfolio.
  • Act as a liaison between suppliers and internal departments for all procurement activities.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
  • Lead and facilitate meetings with department, company, buyers, and suppliers.
  • Prioritize daily work responsibilities effectively.
  • Deliver quality work within deadlines, with or without direct supervision.
  • Engage professionally with colleagues, clients, and suppliers.
  • Collaborate effectively as a team member on all assignments.
  • Work independently while recognizing the importance of communication and coordination with other teams.
  • Adhere to company safety policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of senior procurement or purchasing experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years in Aerospace fastener procurement.
  • 3 years of experience in proposal development.

Knowledge:

  • Awareness of market trends.
  • Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of products and multiple commodities.
  • Familiarity with Aerospace suppliers and vendors.
  • Expertise in the procurement process.
  • Thorough understanding of ERP systems and supply chain management tools.
  • Exceptional computer skills and database management.
  • In-depth knowledge of establishing a supply chain/procurement channel.
