Position Overview:

The Procurement Specialist is responsible for executing a range of purchasing functions, which include pricing strategies, negotiating terms, securing volume discounts, establishing long-term contracts, and ensuring timely delivery of goods and services from suppliers. This role requires adherence to government regulations during procurement processes and alignment with organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze MRP (SAP) order action messages, maintain scheduling and visibility, and proactively address issues until shipment is completed.
  • Create work orders and issue purchase orders based on MRP (SAP) directives. Negotiate pricing and delivery schedules that align with operational needs.
  • Manage changes, reschedules, and external processing necessary to meet production schedule targets.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by achieving timely deliveries of high-quality products. Address special requests and expedite orders as needed. Identify potential delays and strategize recovery plans. Prioritize material handling from receipt to shipment based on scheduling demands and departmental workload.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in production control, including material and inventory management within a defense or aerospace context.
  • Exceptional planning, organizational, and motivational abilities are essential.
  • Proficiency in MRP (SAP) systems is required.
  • General understanding of machine shop practices and processing standards is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with military spares standards is beneficial.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Word, Excel, and computerized MRP systems is necessary.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills (both written and verbal) with a positive demeanor and the ability to inspire others.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and meet deadlines consistently.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to the dynamic needs of the organization are crucial.

Environmental & Physical Requirements:

Office / Sedentary Requirements:

The incumbent must be capable of performing essential job functions, primarily in an office setting. This typically involves sitting for extended periods (66%+ of the workday), hearing telephone communications, and entering data on a computer. May require lifting up to 10 pounds.

Manufacturing / Non-Sedentary Requirements:

The incumbent must be able to perform essential job functions in either an office or warehouse environment. This generally requires spending 66%+ of the workday engaged in activities such as standing for long periods, walking, bending, stooping, or climbing. Potential exposure to dust may occur, and the ability to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds 33% - 66% of the time may be necessary.
