Role Overview:

This newly established position within our expanding North American team offers a unique opportunity to influence project outcomes and contribute to staff development.

As a Principal Environmental Consultant, you will provide strategic leadership in areas primarily focused on the circular economy, alongside decarbonization and natural resource management. You will oversee a small team of analysts and modelers, guiding their professional growth and ensuring the integrity of our analytical processes. Collaboration with our UK team and technical council will be essential to align on best practices and innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with clients to ascertain their requirements and translate these into actionable project methodologies and objectives.
  • Formulate methodologies to address complex client inquiries related to the circular economy, supply chain decarbonization, and other sustainability issues.
  • Supervise technical teams, developing work streams within projects, reviewing model designs, and validating all technical outputs.
  • Craft and present deliverables to clients, emphasizing key insights while clarifying assumptions and methodologies.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently, applying your expertise across various domains and demonstrating a willingness to learn rapidly in new areas.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • A minimum of 10 years of post-graduate experience in environmental assessments, policy evaluations, and systems mapping.
  • Proficient in managing quantitative analyses, with a strong understanding of relevant data sources and the ability to interpret and synthesize diverse data.
  • Experience in developing complex systems-based models.
  • In-depth knowledge of waste and resource management systems in North America.
  • Demonstrated ability to critique methodologies and conduct thorough reviews of calculations, alongside innovative analysis in under-researched areas.
  • Expertise in applying systems thinking to problem-solving and modeling solutions to assess benefits and impacts.
  • Senior-level experience in a consultancy environment, with a background in government or academia considered relevant.
  • A commitment to nurturing the technical development of teams, showcasing a track record of mentoring junior professionals.
  • Commercial acumen in business development and client management, with experience in writing competitive tenders.
  • Understanding of the environmental impacts of plastics.
  • Experience in managing and developing junior and mid-level professionals.
  • Relevant experience in carbon accounting across Eunomia's core markets, particularly in circular economy and waste management.
  • Familiarity with modeling waste and resource management systems in developing regions.
  • Proficiency in GIS, Python, and R, along with experience in data visualization tools.
  • Experience in a consultancy business model.
  • Strong public speaking skills, capable of delivering technical content to varied audiences.
  • A well-established network within the circular economy sector.
