We are looking for a motivated Junior Environmental Consultant to engage in environmental field assessments and support the Project Team in developing comprehensive technical documentation.
The successful candidate will participate in various project-related activities linked to the investigation and remediation of hazardous and non-hazardous waste sites, as well as other projects grounded in physical or natural sciences.
The ideal applicant is an enthusiastic and self-driven individual eager to expand their knowledge. Strong communication and writing abilities are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Environmental Professionals in all phases of site assessment and remediation, from planning to final documentation.
- Conduct field investigations under the supervision of a senior scientist to assess the nature and extent of contamination in soil, sediment, groundwater, and other media.
- Oversee subcontractors, including drillers and laboratories, during activities such as soil boring, monitoring well installation, and sampling of various environmental media.
- Perform municipal, state, and federal file reviews to gather data and information for property investigations or remediation projects.
- Execute Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessments in compliance with established standards.
- Assist in report preparation, including the review of laboratory data, data interpretation, and the creation of tables, figures, and written content.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Chemistry, or a related physical/natural science.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening and compliance with random drug and alcohol testing regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in environmental consulting.
- Familiarity with Phase 1 and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, including soil and groundwater sampling.
- Knowledge of NYSDEC regulations and guidance documents.
- Completion of OSHA 40-Hour Training.
- Possession of a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record, and willingness to travel for fieldwork.
- Understanding of scientific study principles, field investigation techniques, and documentation standards.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and work independently.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
