Launch Systems Automation Engineer

Join a dynamic team of skilled engineers focused on the design and enhancement of mechanical, electrical, and control systems at a premier rocket launch facility.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a multi-disciplinary engineer, you will be accountable for the design, operation, installation, and testing of low-power electrical systems at our launch site.
Key duties include:
- Overseeing ground support control and instrumentation systems that facilitate the fueling and operation of launch vehicles.
- Participating in the build, checkout, and troubleshooting of all ground support equipment (GSE).
- Managing and upgrading data acquisition system hardware across launch and support sites.
- Maintaining network infrastructure connections to data acquisition systems.
- Designing and constructing junction boxes and conduits for instrumentation.
- Creating electrical schematics for new instruments.
- Utilizing electrical tools in the field to ensure instrument functionality.
- Implementing a preventative maintenance program for system upkeep.
- Addressing installation challenges and wear issues of electrical components.
- Documenting procedures for routine tasks and troubleshooting scenarios.
- Providing innovative solutions to unique challenges, including specialized equipment and installation environments.
- Conducting basic electrical installations of various components.
- Designing, building, and operating servo motor controls.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline is required, along with:
- 1+ years of experience in instrumentation power systems design or data acquisition systems.
- 1+ years of experience with low-power systems or DC circuits.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Experience in the following areas is advantageous:
- Electronics test rack design and build, data acquisition setup, and field measurements.
- Robotics, automotive, aircraft, marine, autonomous vehicles, RF or communication systems, and industrial systems.
- Proficiency with electrical test equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and perform under pressure.
- Experience with programming languages including Python, SQL, HTML, Java, and MS Excel.
- Familiarity with Modbus and programmable logic controllers (PLC).
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and night shifts, and may need to travel to support operational activities. Physical capabilities include lifting, standing, climbing, and other activities necessary for the role.
