Position Summary:
The Systems Engineering Automation Specialist will play a crucial role in applying their expertise in Systems Engineering principles and practices. This position requires a solid understanding of the methodologies and technical disciplines involved in coordinating efforts across various engineering sectors.
The Specialist will engage in standard engineering planning, scheduling, and cost estimation, executing independent tasks that necessitate sound judgment in the application of engineering methodologies. Conventional approaches will be utilized to address technical challenges encountered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and review requirement verification strategies and closure statements.
- Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate detailed phases of engineering projects.
- Prepare and coordinate equipment specifications, bid evaluations, and recommendations for procurement.
- Facilitate engineering collaboration among specialty groups, clients, suppliers, and contractors.
- Conduct problem analysis and contribute to original design efforts.
- Prepare functional and system analyses to outline facility and system design requirements.
- Establish verification methods for requirements implementation, including acceptance criteria.
- Create system and facility design criteria documentation.
- Support system-level design verification, requirements validation, and traceability.
- Perform impact assessments for proposed changes to requirements.
- Conduct evaluations to confirm the implementation and traceability of requirements into design.
- Engage in technical discussions to resolve system design challenges.
- Research and document system operations and limitations based on design reviews and discussions with system designers.
- Utilize model-based Systems Engineering with commercial automation tools (e.g., IBM Rationale DOORS or Innoslate by Spec Innovations).
Knowledge Requirements:
- Understanding of the requirement life cycle, including verification planning and requirement validation.
- Familiarity with systems, calculations, equipment, and methodologies used in the Systems Engineering field.
- Knowledge of project controls within Systems Engineering.
- Awareness of industry and regulatory codes, standards, and design criteria relevant to Systems Engineering.
- Proficient in oral and written communication.
- Experience with Systems Engineering tools, such as IBM Rationale DOORS or Innoslate by Spec Innovations.
Qualifications:
- Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering or a related discipline (e.g., Industrial, Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering) from an accredited institution, with a minimum of 6 years of relevant technical experience. - US Citizenship is required.
- Ability to obtain Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification within 12 months of hire.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Comprehension of Systems Engineering principles, methodologies, and requirement management.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification from the International Council of Systems Engineering (INCOSE).
- Experience in Systems Engineering for DOE or DOD projects.
- Familiarity with the implementation of requirements in design.
- Experience with requirements management databases.
- Proficiency in conducting design and/or requirements change impact analysis.
