Job Overview
As a Scientific Research Specialist, you will engage in the planning, design, execution, and oversight of research initiatives within a foundational biological and health science laboratory focusing on infectious diseases and host immune responses. Your role will involve:

  • Participating in the establishment and realization of study objectives and goals.
  • Designing and conducting intricate laboratory experiments.
  • Utilizing advanced techniques in molecular biology, cell culture, and microscopy.
  • Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting research data.
  • Assisting in the development and refinement of innovative research methodologies.
  • Testing experimental designs and analytical methods, providing recommendations for their application.
  • Establishing controls and research standards.
  • Conducting routine procedures on laboratory animals, including surgical interventions and drug administration.
  • Overseeing the care and management of laboratory animals.
  • Performing critical literature reviews pertinent to ongoing research.
  • Contributing to the preparation of research papers and manuscripts for publication and presentation at conferences.
  • Assisting the principal investigator in proposal development for funding opportunities.
  • Coordinating laboratory activities and assignments for postdoctoral researchers, graduate and undergraduate students, and research staff.
  • Ensuring regular maintenance and testing of laboratory equipment.
  • Executing additional responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Education Required
A Bachelor's Level Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience in biological sciences.

Required Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor's degree in a relevant biological or health science field or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required; a Master's degree is preferred. A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience is required, with 3-5 years preferred. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to apply academic and practical knowledge in biological and health science research. Experience in a biological or health research setting is essential, along with familiarity with molecular biology, cell culture, and microscopy techniques. Experience in animal handling and husbandry is also desirable. Successful completion of a background check is required; candidates may be asked to undergo a pre-employment physical, including a drug screening.
