Position Summary:

Turner & Townsend is currently seeking a qualified Mechanical Estimator to oversee a diverse portfolio of large-scale, mission-critical commercial real estate and infrastructure projects for prominent clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and present comprehensive cost estimates and planning documents.
  • Conduct estimates at various stages, including conceptual, programming, and detailed levels.
  • Assist in feasibility assessments and the preparation of procurement documentation.
  • Manage all procurement activities, including pre-qualification, bid list creation, bid analysis, and contract documentation.
  • Engage in post-contract cost variance analysis and change control processes, escalating significant changes as necessary.
  • Oversee cost checks and valuations on larger projects, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in reporting.
  • Prepare and present monthly post-contract cost reports to clients.
  • Contribute to value engineering efforts and negotiate final accounts.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients and consultants throughout all project phases.
  • Provide leadership to the cost management team as required, ensuring accountability in all deliverables.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for business development with existing clients, reporting findings to the appropriate management.
  • Propose enhancements to cost management processes, templates, and products for consideration.
Qualifications:
  • Extensive technical experience in all areas of cost management, including pre-contract, post-contract, and final account.
  • Strong presentation, verbal, written, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and other relevant software.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work collaboratively.
  • Thorough understanding of various construction procurement methods.
  • Experience advising clients on value management, value engineering, and lifecycle costing.
  • Familiarity with key aspects of business development.
  • Broad knowledge and experience across multiple industry sectors.
Education and Experience:
  • Proven experience in preparing mechanical cost estimates for complex construction projects.
  • Experience managing mechanical or MEP estimates on large-scale data centers, high-tech facilities, manufacturing, or commercial real estate projects is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical systems as they relate to construction.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and plumbing systems.
