Position Overview:

Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center

Work Schedule:
This role typically operates Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 4:30 PM. This is a casual/PRN position, meaning that work hours will vary based on the needs of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
1. **Nutritional Services Program Development:**
- Design, implement, and assess a comprehensive Nutritional Services Program tailored for the Cancer Center.
- Establish a patient assessment process for nutritional consultations and continuously seek improvements.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to enhance the program.

2. **Departmental Program Leadership:**
- Create a vision and set goals for the Nutrition Services department.
- Develop a marketing strategy to promote the program.

3. **Patient and Caregiver Education:**
- Provide nutrition education to patients and caregivers, ensuring compliance with established oncology nutrition standards.
- Serve as a reliable resource for physicians and staff.

4. **Continuous Improvement:**
- Regularly review and update nutrition education materials based on current research and professional standards.
- Evaluate and incorporate evidence-based educational resources for patients and the community.

5. **Nutritional Intervention Planning:**
- Utilize assessment data to design integrated nutritional interventions for patients, adhering to approved care standards.
- Consult national guidelines to ensure appropriate interventions.

6. **Patient Satisfaction Focus:**
- Strive for excellence in patient care, as evidenced by positive feedback from clients and staff.
- Engage in performance improvement initiatives related to nutrition and healthcare.

7. **Collaboration and Professionalism:**
- Work effectively with colleagues across departments to enhance patient outcomes.
- Participate in relevant in-service meetings and processes.

8. **Community Engagement:**
- Act as a Nutrition Ambassador, collaborating with other ambassadors to support cancer survivorship programs.

9. **Safety and Compliance:**
- Promote a culture of safety and ensure adherence to national patient safety goals.
- Monitor environmental safety and address any concerns proactively.

Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in Nutrition or Dietetics required.
- Master’s Degree in Dietetics preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience with patients across the aging spectrum.
- Preferred experience of 2 years or 2,000 hours as a Registered Dietitian (RD) in oncology within the last 5 years.
Licensure/Certifications:
- Registered Dietitian (RD) with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics/CDR required.
- State licensure in Nebraska and biannual maintenance required.
- Licensed Medical Nutrition Therapist (LMNT) required.
Skills:
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in mathematics and medical terminology.
