Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough assessments of the nutritional needs of pediatric patients to identify suitable nutrition interventions and perform ongoing evaluations to assess the effectiveness of these interventions.
- Deliver nutrition education and counseling to patients and their families, ensuring they understand the dietary recommendations and their importance.
- Implement medical nutrition therapy based on evidence-based guidelines in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Provide mentorship and training to dietetic interns and offer guidance to food service staff regarding meal nutritional adequacy.
- Act as a nutrition authority within interdisciplinary teams and engage with the community to promote nutritional health.
- Adhere to the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics Standards of Practice and Standards of Professional Performance for Registered Dietitians.
- Execute comprehensive medical nutrition therapy for patients in designated settings.
- Perform effective nutrition assessments to ascertain nutritional status and implement appropriate interventions.
- Maintain ongoing nutrition reassessment to ensure the effectiveness of treatment plans and make necessary adjustments.
- Utilize approved nutrition practice guidelines and resources to develop and implement nutrition interventions.
- Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics or Nutrition is required, or a similar degree with completion of a dietetic internship and active credentialing through the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
- A Master's Degree in Nutrition is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in pediatric clinical nutrition is preferred.
- Strong understanding of pediatric nutrition principles and requirements.
- Proficient in clinical medical nutrition therapy practices.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Experience with various software applications for nutritional information retrieval.
- Current licensure as a Medical Nutrition Therapist (LMNT) in Nebraska is required.
- Registered Dietitian (RD) certification from the Commission on Dietetic Registration is required.
- Board Certified Specialist in Pediatric Nutrition (CSP) or similar certification is preferred.
