Position Overview:
Location: Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center

Work Schedule: This role typically operates Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 4:30 PM. This is a casual/PRN position, meaning work hours will vary based on the needs of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
Core Duties

1. Develop and manage a comprehensive Nutritional Services Program tailored for the Cancer Center.
  • Establish a systematic approach for assessing patients requiring nutritional consultations.
  • Implement and maintain this process while continuously seeking improvements.
  • Collaborate with the Multidisciplinary Team at the Methodist Cancer Center to enhance the program.
2. Design the overall Nutrition Services department strategy.
  • Set clear objectives and create a vision for the department.
  • Formulate a marketing strategy to promote services.
3. Deliver nutrition education to patients and their families to ensure adherence to the Oncology Nutrition Services policies.
  • Ensure that educational content meets referral standards and accepted care practices.
  • Serve as a reliable resource for physicians and staff at the Methodist Cancer Center.
4. Engage in the continuous review and enhancement of nutrition education resources, utilizing current research and professional standards.
  • Incorporate evidence-based, peer-reviewed materials for patient and community education.
  • Research and implement additional educational resources as needed.
5. Utilize basic assessment data to devise integrated nutritional interventions for patients, adhering to established care standards.
  • Consult national evidence-based guidelines for appropriate nutritional practices.
  • Merge the best available research with clinical expertise and patient preferences.
6. Prioritize patient satisfaction as a primary objective.
  • Collect and report commendations from clients and staff regarding patient care excellence.
  • Engage in performance improvement initiatives related to nutrition and healthcare.
7. Collaborate effectively with various departments within the Methodist Cancer Center and Methodist Hospital.
  • Participate in relevant in-service meetings and processes.
  • Assess and adapt to changing needs proactively.
8. Act as a Nutrition Ambassador for Harper's Hope.
  • Work alongside other ambassadors and support staff to develop and evaluate comprehensive cancer survivorship programs.
9. Foster a culture of safety within the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with national patient safety goals.
  • Monitor and address environmental safety concerns.
Qualifications:

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics is required.
  • Master's degree in Dietetics is preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience with diverse patient populations is required.
  • Preferred experience of 2 years or 2,000 hours as a Registered Dietitian in oncology within the last 5 years.
Licenses/Certifications
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) credential is required.
  • State licensure in Nebraska is mandatory.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Competency in mathematical skills and medical terminology is essential.
