Position Overview:
Location: Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center

Work Schedule: This position typically operates Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4:30 PM. It is a casual/PRN role, meaning hours will vary based on the needs of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
Core Duties

1. Develop and oversee a comprehensive Nutritional Services Program tailored for the Cancer Center.
  • Establish a systematic approach for patient nutritional assessments.
  • Implement and refine the established process.
  • Continuously evaluate and enhance the program to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the Multidisciplinary Team at the Methodist Cancer Center to advance this initiative.
2. Shape the overall Nutrition Services department program.
  • Set goals and articulate a clear vision.
  • Create a strategic marketing plan.
3. Deliver nutrition education to patients and caregivers to ensure adherence to Oncology nutrition standards.
  • Ensure that nutrition education aligns with referrals and meets established care standards.
  • Serve as a reliable resource for physicians and staff.
4. Engage in the ongoing review and enhancement of nutrition education materials, utilizing current research and professional standards.
  • Utilize evidence-based, peer-reviewed educational resources for patients and staff.
  • Conduct community education initiatives to support improved patient outcomes.
5. Design integrated nutritional interventions based on assessment data to optimize patient health.
  • Refer to established evidence-based guidelines for appropriate interventions.
  • Combine research findings with clinical expertise and patient preferences.
6. Prioritize patient satisfaction as a fundamental goal.
  • Receive positive feedback from clients and staff regarding care quality.
  • Monitor performance improvement metrics and report findings.
  • Proactively develop quality assurance protocols related to nutrition.
7. Collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments to enhance patient care.
  • Participate in relevant in-service meetings and processes.
  • Assess and adapt to changing needs within the organization.
  • Seek opportunities to improve interdepartmental collaboration.
8. Act as a Nutrition Ambassador for community programs.
  • Engage in initiatives that support cancer survivorship.
  • Work alongside other ambassadors and support staff to develop comprehensive services.
9. Foster a culture of safety within the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with national patient safety standards.
  • Monitor environmental safety and address any concerns.
Qualifications:

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics is required.
  • Master's degree in Dietetics is preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience with diverse patient populations.
  • Preferred experience in oncology nutrition within the last 5 years.
  • Experience in health promotion and program development is essential.
Licenses/Certifications
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) credential is required.
  • State licensure in Nebraska is mandatory.
  • Licensed Medical Nutrition Therapist (LMNT) is required.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong mathematical skills and knowledge of medical terminology are essential.
