Join Zurich Insurance Company Ltd as a seasoned Loss Sensitive Casualty Underwriter within our Middle Market Complex Casualty Underwriting division. We are seeking a professional with a robust network of Broker relationships, particularly in the Midwest region.
This role is both technical and client-facing, focusing on our specialized complex and loss sensitive casualty offerings. It presents a unique opportunity to be part of a growing team.
While this position is office-based, we offer the flexibility of a hybrid work model, allowing you to balance your professional and personal commitments effectively. You will collaborate with your manager to establish a work schedule that accommodates your needs, our clients, and our broker partners. Regular engagement with agents and brokers in the marketplace is essential.
This position may be filled at either the Senior or AVP underwriting level, depending on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Generate, underwrite, and analyze domestic Complex and Loss Sensitive Casualty business.
- Engage in market-facing and production activities.
- Adhere to underwriting rules, insurance regulations, and rating guidelines.
- Develop and nurture relationships with agencies and brokers.
- Handle complex assignments within established limits and authorities.
Basic Qualifications:
For Senior Casualty Underwriter:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent with 5+ years in Underwriting, Brokerage, or Market Facing roles, or
- High School Diploma or Equivalent with 10+ years in Claims or Underwriting Support, or
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 3+ years in Underwriting or Market Facing roles, or
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 8+ years in Claims or Underwriting Support.
For AVP Casualty Underwriter:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent with 7+ years in Underwriting, Brokerage, or Market Facing roles, or
- High School Diploma or Equivalent with 14+ years in Claims or Underwriting Support, or
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 5+ years in Underwriting or Market Facing roles, or
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 12+ years in Claims or Underwriting Support.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Familiarity with Domestic Complex Casualty Products.
- Ability to assess risk effectively.
- Strong negotiation skills and broker relationships in the Midwest.
- Exceptional relationship-building, active listening, and negotiation skills.
- Commitment to high customer service standards.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- In-depth knowledge of underwriting principles and regulations.
