As a Loss Sensitive Casualty Underwriter, you will engage in both technical and market-facing responsibilities, focusing on our complex casualty products. This position offers a unique opportunity to be part of a growing team.
The position allows for a hybrid work arrangement, providing flexibility to work remotely or from one of our office locations. You will collaborate with your manager to establish a work schedule that accommodates your needs while ensuring excellent service to our clients and brokers.
This role can be filled at either the Senior or AVP underwriting level, depending on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Underwrite and analyze domestic Complex and Loss Sensitive Casualty business.
- Engage in market-facing activities and production efforts.
- Adhere to underwriting guidelines, insurance regulations, and rating manual rules.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with agencies and brokers.
- Handle complex assignments within broad limits and authorities.
Basic Qualifications for Senior Casualty Underwriter:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent with 5+ years of experience in Underwriting or Brokerage.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent with 10+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support.
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 3+ years of experience in Underwriting.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience working under time constraints.
- Team-oriented mindset.
Basic Qualifications for AVP Casualty Underwriter:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent with 7+ years of experience in Underwriting or Brokerage.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent with 14+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support.
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 5+ years of experience in Underwriting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Familiarity with Domestic Complex Casualty Products.
- Strong risk assessment and negotiation skills.
- Established broker relationships within the Midwest.
- Exceptional customer service skills and effective communication abilities.
