Position Title: Shuttle Bus Operator

Department: Shuttle Transportation Services

Location: Airport Operations

Key Responsibilities

Primary Role: Ensure the safe and efficient operation of shuttle buses while transporting passengers along designated routes.

Core Duties:

  • Perform pre-departure inspections of the assigned shuttle vehicle prior to each shift.
  • Conduct post-shift vehicle assessments and report any issues to the Supervisor immediately.
  • Adhere to the scheduled route timings.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the bus interiors, refuel vehicles, log trip counts, and assist passengers with disabilities.
  • Comply with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations governing shuttle bus operations.
  • Possess and carry a valid state-issued driver's license while on duty.
  • Maintain an acceptable driving record as per company standards.
  • Provide courteous assistance to customers, addressing their inquiries and directing them to the Supervisor when necessary.
  • Report any accidents, policy violations, safety hazards, or unusual incidents to the Supervisor or General Manager.
  • Communicate any hazardous conditions such as debris or spills to the Supervisor.
  • Possess thorough knowledge of the garage area and major local streets, landmarks, and highways.
  • Assist passengers with luggage and other travel items as needed.
  • Support Supervisors with additional tasks as required.

Qualifications

Requirements: To be successful in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform all essential duties effectively.

Work Availability: Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.

Education/Experience: High School diploma or GED preferred. CDL training or a combination of education and experience is acceptable.

Licensing: Must possess and maintain a valid CDL Class A, B, or C Driver's License with Passenger Endorsement, as per DOT regulations. A Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) that meets company standards is required.

Medical Certification: A valid Medical Examiner's Certificate (DOT Medical Card) is mandatory.

Compliance: All drivers must adhere to federal and local CDL regulations and report any disqualifying situations, including random and post-accident drug testing.

Language Proficiency: Ability to read, comprehend, and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Communication Skills: Clear speaking ability; attentive listening; responsive to inquiries in English.

Written Communication: Capable of writing clearly and interpreting written materials.

Mathematical Skills: Proficient in basic arithmetic operations.

Professional Appearance: Employees are expected to maintain a neat and professional appearance, wearing the complete uniform at all times.

Adaptability: Ability to adjust to changes in the work environment and manage unexpected situations.

Judgment and Professionalism: Demonstrates sound judgment and maintains a positive attitude, responding well to service requests and pressure.

Physical Requirements: The role requires regular standing, walking, and handling equipment. Employees may need to lift or move items weighing up to 75 pounds.
