POSITION SUMMARY:

This position offers legal guidance to the Subrogation Team and supports all facets of the organization's Subrogation operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant State and Federal laws, including Medicare and Medicaid, that influence healthcare subrogation, while proactively tracking legislative and judicial developments.
  2. Establish and nurture robust relationships with internal stakeholders and external clients.
  3. Assess, formulate, and implement strategies for the effective litigation of subrogation claims.
  4. Oversee discovery processes and manage outside counsel related to subrogation litigation claims; participate in court hearings and mediations as needed to advocate for clients' legal positions.
  5. Negotiate settlements with third-party defendants, insurance carriers, and legal representatives.
  6. Identify and communicate potential risks to stakeholders and offer recommendations for risk mitigation.
  7. Provide legal counsel to the recovery team on intricate subrogation legal matters.
  8. Coordinate recovery efforts and deliver legal research and guidance to recovery team members.
  9. Develop and conduct training sessions for the subrogation departments as necessary.
  10. Draft and generate all necessary settlement documents to finalize payments and close files.
  11. Collaborate, coordinate, and communicate effectively across various disciplines and departments.
  12. Ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations and requirements.
  13. Exemplify the Company's Core Competencies and values.
  14. Note: Due to exposure to sensitive data, this role is classified as a High-Risk Role.

JOB SCOPE:

This individual operates independently with minimal supervision and considerable discretion to make decisions impacting Subrogation operations within the organization. The incumbent applies extensive knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures to fulfill job responsibilities. They serve as a resource for Subrogation Department staff, making decisions based on sound logic and rationale, advancing issues toward resolution amidst ambiguity, and selecting the best alternatives based on a thorough evaluation of pros, cons, trade-offs, timing, and available resources. The role may involve direct supervision of subordinates, while generally providing guidance to others who do not report directly to this position.

The salary range for this role is $110-115K, with specific offers reflecting the candidate's education, experience, skills, work location, and internal equity. This position is also eligible for health insurance, 401k, and bonus opportunities.
