Key Responsibilities
  • Manage litigation and investigative matters, including class actions, arbitrations, and pre-litigation disputes, to minimize risk and protect the company's interests.
  • Develop and execute litigation strategy, manage discovery efforts, and collaborate with outside counsel to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Provide cross-functional support and counseling to line of business clients and other attorneys within the Legal Department to mitigate legal and litigation risk.
  • Stay up-to-date on legislation, regulations, and case law developments that affect the company and the banking industry.
  • Prepare and review litigation-related documents, represent the company in litigation or alternative dispute resolutions, and perform legal research and analysis.
Requirements
  • Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA-accredited law school and licensed to practice law in good standing.
  • At least 8 years of post-bar experience in a law firm, government, or corporate setting.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize matters, utilize time management skills, and move between matters fluidly.
  • Ability to handle a heavy workload, manage stress effectively, and meet critical deadlines.
  • Able to work autonomously without close supervision.
  • Team-oriented mentality and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience or training in the financial services industry or a related legal practice area, with demonstrated specialization.
  • Significant complex litigation and/or class action experience.
  • Experience handling litigation for retail wealth financial institutions, including experience with retail broker-dealer, investment advisory, and bank trust services matters, including FINRA arbitrations.
  • Experience in a corporate legal department having successfully held positions of advancing responsibility.
  • An educational focus on business or finance.
  • Comfortable working in the entrepreneurial environment of a large, complex corporation.
  • Excellent analytic and organizational skills.
  • Possess strong negotiation skills.
Working Conditions

This role requires occasional sitting, standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 10 pounds. The ability to access and interpret client information, hear and speak with individuals in person and on the phone, and work standard office equipment is also required.

Benefits

As a regular teammate working 20 hours or more per week, you will be eligible for benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, accidental death and dismemberment, tax-preferred savings accounts, and a 401(k) plan. You will also receive no less than 10 days of vacation and 10 sick days during your first year of employment, along with paid holidays.
