The Role

The Senior Engineer will spearhead and engage in various team settings, delivering independent contributions across all facets of system integration, including design, needs assessment, design evaluation, testing, implementation, and validation. This highly technical and hands-on role entails managing systems that support Lumen's Government and commercial managed security services platforms, focusing on .gov and critical infrastructure protection initiatives.

Eligibility Requirement: Candidates must be U.S. Citizens with an active DoD TOP SECRET/SCI Level clearance.

Main Responsibilities
  • Propose optimized solutions to facilitate current and long-term planning, collaborating with project team leaders in the selection, recommendation, and approval of tools and technologies to enhance efficiencies, minimize costs, and boost customer satisfaction.
  • Generate and maintain reports for patch compliance and system audit data.
  • Engage in ongoing operational projects.
  • Offer recommendations for system automation.
  • Diagnose hardware and software issues as they arise, documenting problems and their resolutions.
  • Participate in OS patch management and coordination.
  • Develop and test Windows security patch packages.
  • Troubleshoot Windows OS and Microsoft application security patch installations.
  • Conduct ongoing maintenance and administration of assigned systems.
  • Ensure adherence to policies, processes, and procedures within your areas of responsibility.
  • Assist in executing projects related to your areas of responsibility.
  • Evaluate, construct, integrate, test, and prepare systems for operational use and patches for rapid remediation and deployment.
Candidate Profile

Basic Qualifications:

  • Proficient knowledge and experience in computer network operations, network access and protection techniques, software coding, encryption, and cross-domain solutions.
  • Familiarity with system architecture and engineering disciplines, with specific technical knowledge of enterprise-level networking and network security.
  • Availability for 24/7 Network Outages and Maintenance window work.
  • Willingness to work rotating, on-call, and/or after-hours as required.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active DoD TOP SECRET/SCI Level clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or advanced degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science, along with experience or a strong interest in the cybersecurity field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Information Security, Information Assurance (IA), or Cyber Security programs.
  • 5+ years of experience with system security concepts, assessments, threat and vulnerability management, penetration testing, and vulnerability mitigation.
  • 5+ years of experience reporting status and recommendations for improvements to federal government or commercial leadership, developing and implementing patch management methodologies using various automation tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work consultatively with others, establishing rapport, interviewing, defining requirements, presenting options, and maintaining customer-focused behavior.
  • Proven capability to thrive in a dynamic team environment with shifting requirements and competing priorities.
Compensation

The starting salary for this position varies based on the employee's primary work location. Compensation typically does not begin at the top of the range, as it is influenced by individual qualifications.

Location-Based Pay Ranges:

$107340 in states such as AR, ID, KY, LA, ME, MS, NE, SC, and SD.
$112980 in states including AZ, AL, FL, GA, IN, IA, KS, MO, MT, NM, ND, OH, OK, PA, TN, UT, VT, WV, WI, and WY.
$118630 in states like CO, HI, MI, MN, NV, NH, NC, OR, and RI.
$124280 in states such as AK, CA, CT, DE, DC, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.

As the pay range varies by region, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications, and other business needs.
