Job Overview

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a skilled Fire Alarm Technician to join our dedicated team.


Position Summary: The Fire Alarm Technician role is designed for individuals with a solid background in the fire safety sector. The successful candidate will demonstrate responsibility and initiative, capable of performing installations, servicing, and inspecting fire alarm systems and related low voltage equipment independently.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation, maintenance, and inspection of fire alarm systems and associated low voltage equipment
  • Conducting system tests and inspections according to established standards
  • Providing immediate troubleshooting and repair services for fire alarm systems
  • Documenting service tickets and reports accurately and promptly
  • Delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining effective communication
  • Ensuring a clean and safe working environment at all times
  • Collaborating effectively with Administration, Sales, Customers, and Management
  • Managing truck inventory and supplies
  • Performing additional tasks as required

Qualifications & Skills:

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent professional experience
  • Eligibility for licensure in Louisiana, Arkansas, and Texas
  • At least two years of experience in the installation, inspection, and servicing of Life Safety Systems
  • Possession of Louisiana Level 1 and Level 2 licenses is preferred
  • Completion of relevant training and testing
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to manage tasks independently
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed
  • Experience with office equipment and basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Capability to handle tools and equipment safely
  • Physical ability to lift at least 50 pounds
  • Self-motivated, personable, and well-organized
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record
  • Proficiency in English

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in life safety installations, field service, and inspections
  • Experience with programming fire alarm panels

Preferred Qualifications:

  • NICET certification
  • Experience leading large commercial projects
  • Familiarity with CAD software
  • Background in fire extinguishers, hood suppression, and sprinkler systems
