Position Summary:
The role of the Process Engineer is crucial in providing technical guidance and leadership within the department. This position focuses on developing and implementing best practices aimed at enhancing safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead and support initiatives for process enhancement, involving:
   a. Chemical applications
   b. Mechanical upgrades
   c. Support for chemical trials and exploration of innovative technologies.
2. Collaborate in the design and optimization of plant equipment and processes related to paper machine operations.
3. Conduct analysis of weekly and monthly process trends to identify areas for improvement.
4. Provide mentorship to fellow engineers and oversee hourly employees engaged in paper machine operations.
5. Contribute to the management of the mill's Key Performance Indicators (KPI) system, including:
   a. Updating operator rounds
   b. Auditing operations for process variable discrepancies
   c. Collaborating with management and staff to rectify KPI deviations.
6. Promote best practices for safe operations, ensuring the safety of all personnel involved in operations and maintenance.
7. Exhibit self-motivation and initiative in advancing ideas and influencing team dynamics.
8. Work under the guidance of the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent to optimize the use of process chemistry, including:
   a. Evaluating economic applications of established chemical controls
   b. Assessing trial chemistries for potential implementation.
9. Oversee the monitoring and upkeep of process control instruments, including sampling and verification of process indicators.
10. Ensure vendor compliance with safety regulations regarding chemical storage, inventory, and handling.
11. Review and analyze daily production and quality metrics to address operational challenges.
12. Assist in formulating annual cost and production budgets.
13. Support key personnel in planning outages and scheduling operations.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Pulp & Paper Science, or a related engineering discipline.
- 1 to 3 years of experience in process engineering within a heavy manufacturing environment.
