The RoleThe Senior Engineer will spearhead and engage in various team environments, contributing independently to all facets of system integration, including design, needs assessment, design evaluation, testing, implementation, and validation. This highly technical and hands-on role involves managing systems that support Lumen's Government and commercial managed security services platforms, focusing on .gov and critical infrastructure protection missions.
Eligibility Requirement: Candidates must be U.S. Citizens with an active DoD TOP SECRET/SCI Level clearance.
Main Responsibilities- Propose optimized solutions to support both current and long-term planning, collaborating with project leads in selecting and approving tools and technologies to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and boost customer satisfaction.
- Generate and maintain reports for patch compliance and system audit data.
- Engage in ongoing operational projects.
- Offer recommendations for system automation.
- Diagnose hardware and software issues as they occur, documenting problems and their resolutions.
- Participate in OS patch management and coordination.
- Develop and test Windows security patch packages.
- Troubleshoot Windows OS and Microsoft application security patch installations.
- Conduct ongoing maintenance and administration of assigned systems.
- Adhere to policies, processes, and procedures relevant to your responsibilities.
- Assist in executing projects related to your areas of responsibility.
- Evaluate, build, integrate, test, and prepare systems for operational use and patches for rapid remediation and deployment.
Basic Qualifications:
- Proficient knowledge and experience in computer network operations, network access and protection techniques, software coding, encryption, and cross-domain solutions.
- Expertise in system architecture and engineering disciplines, with specific technical knowledge of enterprise-level networking and network security.
- Availability for 24/7 network outages and maintenance work.
- Willingness to work rotating on-call shifts and after-hours as required.
- U.S. Citizenship with an active DoD TOP SECRET/SCI Level clearance is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science, with experience or a strong interest in cybersecurity.
- Over 5 years of experience in Information Security, Information Assurance (IA), or Cyber Security programs.
- More than 5 years of experience with system security concepts, assessments, threat and vulnerability management, penetration testing, and vulnerability mitigation.
- Experience in reporting status and recommendations for improvements to federal government or commercial leadership, including developing and implementing patch management methodologies using various automation tools.
- Demonstrated ability to work consultatively with others, establishing rapport, interviewing, defining requirements, presenting options, and maintaining customer-focused behavior.
- Proven capability to thrive in a dynamic team environment with changing requirements and competing priorities.
The starting salary for this position varies based on the employee's primary work location, with individual compensation influenced by qualifications.
Location-Based Pay Ranges:
$107,340 in states such as AR, ID, KY, LA, ME, MS, NE, SC, and SD.
$112,980 in states including AZ, AL, FL, GA, IN, IA, KS, MO, MT, NM, ND, OH, OK, PA, TN, UT, VT, WV, WI, and WY.
$118,630 in states like CO, HI, MI, MN, NV, NH, NC, OR, and RI.
$124,280 in states such as AK, CA, CT, DE, DC, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
Compensation is determined by various factors, including experience, education, skills, certifications, and business needs.

Selected candidates will undergo a background screening, which may include checks for criminal records, motor vehicle reports, and drug screening, depending on position requirements.
