POSITION SUMMARY

The Clinical Audiology Support Specialist plays a vital role in assisting audiologists in a healthcare setting. This position encompasses a variety of responsibilities aimed at enhancing patient care and ensuring smooth operational processes within the clinic.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Professionally manage incoming calls, schedule appointments, and provide informative responses to patient inquiries regarding available services and products.
  • Monitor and verify the status of workers' compensation claims and necessary authorizations.
  • Support audiologists with patient assessments, including hearing screenings and diagnostic evaluations, while documenting all relevant activities during patient visits.
  • Assist walk-in patients and ensure their needs are addressed promptly.
  • Prepare testing equipment for Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) and Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE) assessments, providing assistance as required.
  • Receive and check in deliveries, including new hearing aid orders and repairs.
  • Code invoices for review by the Director of Audiology.
  • Maintain inventory of office supplies, including hearing aid batteries and audiology-related materials.
  • Manage the patient database and ensure timely reminder notices are sent out.
  • Proactively identify departmental needs and contribute to improving office efficiency by assisting colleagues as necessary.
  • Perform duties of absent staff members when required.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Preferred: Audiology Assistant license from the State of Florida at the time of hire, with the requirement to obtain licensure within eighteen months.
  • Must possess and maintain Basic Life Support (CPR and AED) certification in line with American Heart Association standards.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a healthcare environment, ideally within a physician's practice.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 10 pounds occasionally.
  • Occasional standing and walking, with activity present up to one-third of the time.
  • Frequent keyboarding and dexterity required, with activity present three-quarters of the time.
  • Capability to focus on a computer screen for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand and finger motions consistently.
  • Flexibility to work in various positions (standing, sitting, bending, and walking) for prolonged periods.
  • Effective verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Visual and auditory capabilities are necessary for the role.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Frequent interruptions in daily tasks are expected.
  • Availability to assist customers and staff throughout the workday is required.
  • Extended hours may be necessary to meet departmental needs.
  • Experience in clinical and medical practice operations is beneficial.
