Position Overview

The Clinical Care Specialist plays a vital role in delivering thorough health evaluations and assessments for patients within a clinical setting, operating under the guidance of the medical director. This role encompasses providing healthcare services to patients under the supervision and accountability of a physician, which includes evaluating, diagnosing, prescribing, treating, and educating patients. The Clinical Care Specialist collaborates closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure a comprehensive approach to patient care. This position involves ordering and interpreting necessary diagnostic tests such as laboratory work, EKGs, and X-rays under the supervision of a physician.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluates patient health by gathering medical history through interviews and reviewing records; assesses presenting conditions, risk factors, family history, psychosocial aspects, and cultural influences; conducts thorough examinations.
  • Orders or conducts relevant laboratory tests and screenings. Gathers additional information as required, including consulting with physicians for further evaluation of health issues. Synthesizes data to establish diagnoses and therapeutic strategies, identifying any potential health risks.
  • Creates and executes treatment plans by prescribing or administering medications and/or injections in accordance with medical guidelines and state regulations.
  • Educates and advises patients on adherence to prescribed treatment plans, developmental milestones, family planning, daily emotional challenges, and health maintenance strategies.
  • Engages in peer evaluations, chart assessments, staff training, clinical guideline formulation, and ongoing education and quality assurance initiatives to ensure compliance with established standards, regulations, policies, and procedures. Develops and implements patient management strategies, documents progress notes, and aids in ensuring continuity of care.
  • Partners with physicians to address both acute and chronic medical needs of patients. Provides ongoing monitoring and continuity of care between appointments as per the treatment plan, including managing patient inquiries via calls or emails.
  • May assist physicians in the operating room as outlined in the Medical Staff Bylaws, if applicable.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in nursing or physician assistant studies.
  • Must possess a valid Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant license in the State of Florida upon hire; certification as a Physician Assistant (CCPA) is required for Physician Assistants.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers is required upon hire.
