Position Summary
The Financial Analyst will play a crucial role in supporting the General Accounting Department by delivering precise and data-driven insights regarding the company's financial health, including profitability, solvency, stability, and liquidity. This role involves conducting thorough research and analysis of financial data to assist the firm in making informed decisions, drafting reports, and monitoring financial trends. Responsibilities encompass management reporting, annual budgeting, forecasting, account analysis, and financial reporting for the firm's international operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Consolidate and analyze statistical and financial data (budgets, revenue, income statements, service demand, etc.) while considering the company's objectives and financial position.
- Develop financial models, conduct benchmarking, and perform process analysis.
- Compile and summarize data to create comprehensive reports on financial status and associated risks.
- Conduct business studies on historical, projected, and comparative performance, and develop forecasting models.
- Assist in preparing the operating budget, focusing on revenue and expense components.
- Monitor and assess financial status by comparing actual results with forecasts.
- Record fixed asset transactions in the accounting system, calculate depreciation, and reconcile fixed asset subsidiary ledgers with the General Ledger.
- Track company expenditures for fixed assets against the capital budget and management approvals.
- Support the preparation of personal property tax returns.
- Prepare audit schedules related to fixed assets and assist auditors with inquiries.
- Reconcile transactions by comparing and correcting data discrepancies.
- Assist in compensation analysis, identifying variances, and ensuring the accuracy of payroll interfaces.
- Engage actively in cash management functions, gathering and analyzing data, and preparing reports and charts as needed.
Proficiency in statistical analysis and processes, along with strong skills in spreadsheets, databases, MS Office, and financial software applications. Excellent presentation, reporting, and communication abilities are essential. A solid understanding of accounting principles and practices is required, with advanced Excel skills being crucial. The candidate should be capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment and possess strong analytical skills to manage diverse financial data.
Education and Experience
- Minimum: High School Diploma or GED.
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: At least 3 years of proven experience as a Financial Analyst or in a similar capacity.
