Job Overview

The Pathology Operations Specialist II plays a crucial role in managing the pathology workflow and daily operations at CND Life Sciences. This position involves close collaboration with team members and leadership, ensuring effective communication with laboratory personnel, Quality Assurance, Research & Development, and other essential departments to uphold high standards of quality and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Pathology Operations Functions

  • Manage the commercial pathology workflow efficiently.
  • Conduct routine slide scanning and digital analysis utilizing the company's advanced scanning technology.
  • Coordinate weekly case distribution to both full-time and contracted affiliates, adhering to strict licensure and volume guidelines.
  • Assist in packaging slide shipments for offsite affiliates, ensuring proper handling and compliance.
  • Provide timely and accurate case status updates and metrics to Pathology leadership using the current Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Upload pertinent case documentation to LIMS for record-keeping and tracking.
  • Identify and resolve missing patient documentation in LIMS to facilitate prompt pathology report generation.
  • Transcribe medical doctor results into LIMS to aid in the generation of pathology reports.
  • Generate pathology reports and ensure their timely delivery to the appropriate medical professionals for finalization.
  • Implement quality assurance and quality control measures on generated pathology reports.
  • Contribute to the development and revision of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that align with the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Participate in and lead selected meetings, assisting with various operational activities as directed by leadership.
  • Perform additional tasks as required.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in Digital Pathology or a comparable role within a medical or molecular diagnostics setting.
  • Familiarity with whole slide imaging, supporting image annotation, and histopathology data collection and interpretation is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of quality assurance, quality improvement, and quality control principles.
  • Knowledge of good laboratory practices and procedures.
  • Enthusiasm for working in a dynamic start-up environment.
  • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to present information effectively to colleagues and leadership.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work within established timelines.
  • Proactive approach to work, demonstrating initiative while adhering to managerial guidance.
  • A strong desire for professional growth and development.

Education and Certifications:

  • Associate's degree in a relevant scientific field is required.
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Certifications in laboratory medicine, pathology assistance, and/or digital pathology are advantageous.

Additional Information:

  • This role involves a combination of seated and standing work to fulfill core responsibilities.
  • Compliance with company safety policies is mandatory.
  • Availability to work onsite at the company's headquarters is required.
  • Willingness to work on a rotating weekend schedule may be necessary.
  • Shifts: Two positions are available with varying schedules.
