The Pathology Operations Specialist I plays a crucial role in the pathology processes and daily functions at CND Life Sciences. This position requires close collaboration with team members and interaction with laboratory personnel, Quality Assurance, Research & Development, and other essential departments to ensure the execution of high-quality and compliant practices.

The specialist is tasked with performing technical duties, including routine slide scanning to facilitate image analysis utilizing the Company's Olympus VS200 scanners and NerValence software. Responsibilities also include organizing cases for distribution according to state licensure to local and remote medical doctors for evaluation. Additionally, the specialist aids in the packaging and dispatching of slide shipments to offsite partners while managing incoming pathology work from medical professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

Pathology Operations Functions

  • Conduct routine whole slide scanning for commercial workflows using Olympus VS200 and Visiopharm software.
  • Manage case distribution to both full-time and contracted affiliates.
  • Prepare case documentation for medical staff.
  • Package and send slide shipments to offsite partners.
  • Record, update, and monitor case statuses using current Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) software.
  • Upload pertinent case documentation to LIMS.
  • Archive digital images post-review by medical professionals.
  • Sort and store glass slides for long-term preservation after review.
  • Transcribe medical results into LIMS to support pathology report generation.
  • Participate in selected meetings and assist with tasks as directed by operational leaders.
  • Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Prior experience in Digital Pathology or a comparable role within a medical or molecular diagnostics organization.
  • Familiarity with whole slide imaging, histopathology, data collection, and interpretation is preferred.
  • Competence in good laboratory practices.
  • A strong interest in working within a start-up environment.
  • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to present information to colleagues and leadership.

Education, Certification & Licensures:

  • High School Diploma is required.
  • An Associate degree in a related scientific field is preferred.
  • Certifications in laboratory medicine, pathology assistance, and/or digital pathology are advantageous.

Additional Information:

  • This role involves a combination of seated and standing work to fulfill core responsibilities.
  • Compliance with company safety policies is mandatory.
  • Onsite work at the Company's headquarters is required approximately five days a week.
  • Availability to work one weekend per month on a rotating schedule is necessary.
  • Shifts available: Tuesday to Saturday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, and Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM.
