The Pathology Operations Specialist II (POS II) plays a crucial role in managing the pathology workflow and daily functions at CND Life Sciences. This position requires close collaboration with team members and leadership, as well as coordination with laboratory personnel, Quality Assurance, Research & Development, and other essential departments to ensure the successful execution of high-quality and compliant practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Pathology Operations Functions
- Manage the commercial pathology workflow efficiently.
- Conduct routine slide scanning and digital analysis utilizing the company's advanced scanning technology and software.
- Organize and assist with the weekly distribution of cases to both full-time and contracted affiliates, adhering to strict licensure and volume guidelines.
- Support pathology operations by preparing slide shipments for offsite affiliates.
- Provide timely and accurate case status updates and metrics to Pathology leadership using the current Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Upload pertinent case documentation into LIMS.
- Identify and resolve missing patient documentation in LIMS to ensure timely generation of pathology reports.
- Transcribe medical doctor results into LIMS to facilitate the creation of pathology reports.
- Generate pathology reports and ensure their proper distribution to the appropriate medical professionals for finalization.
- Implement quality assurance and quality control measures on generated pathology reports.
- Assist in the identification, writing, and updating of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that are integrated into the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Participate in and lead selected meetings, contributing to activities as assigned by operational leaders.
- Perform additional tasks as required.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in Digital Pathology or a comparable role within a medical or molecular diagnostics organization.
- Experience with whole slide imaging, including image annotation and histopathology data collection and interpretation, is preferred.
- Strong focus on quality assurance, quality improvement, and quality control.
- Familiarity with good laboratory practices and protocols.
- Enthusiasm for working in a dynamic start-up environment.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to present information effectively to colleagues and leadership.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work, including meeting deadlines for deliverables.
- Proactive approach to work with a willingness to take initiative under appropriate guidance.
- A strong desire for professional growth and development.
Education and Certifications:
- Associate's degree in a relevant scientific field is required.
- Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Certifications in laboratory medicine, pathology assistance, and/or digital pathology are advantageous.
Additional Information:
- Role involves a combination of seated and standing tasks to fulfill core responsibilities.
- Compliance with company safety policies is mandatory.
- Availability to work onsite at the company's headquarters is required.
- Flexibility to work one weekend per month on a rotating schedule.
- Shifts: Two positions available - Sunday to Thursday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, and Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
