Philadelphia Gear, a division of Timken Gears and Services, is on the lookout for a Lead Service Center Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in overseeing all technical functions that support our service center operations and serves as a crucial technical link to the corporate engineering division.

Key Responsibilities
  • Translate customer specifications for the repair, enhancement, or modification of equipment.
  • Assess equipment conditions to identify components that can be reused, repaired, or need replacement.
  • Conduct failure analysis and generate comprehensive technical reports for clients.
  • Outline the necessary work scope to restore equipment to optimal functionality.
  • Measure and reverse-engineer components not manufactured by PG.
  • Provide calculations for the production of new gears or the refurbishment of existing ones.
  • Design, specify, and produce detailed drawings of components.
  • Create job travelers that delineate the sequence of operations and detail the work required for gear and equipment repairs or modifications.
  • Support the technical training of shop staff.
  • Offer technical assistance to suppliers, clients, field service, and customer service teams.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally may be necessary.
Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or design engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in design or manufacturing engineering, assembly or testing supervision, or field service engineering and equipment repair.
  • Proven experience with mechanical power transmission and gear systems.
  • Basic understanding of fluid film and rolling element bearings, gear design, and vibration analysis is highly desirable.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks 3D modeling.
  • Strong computer skills; adept in Microsoft 365/Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
