At Houston Methodist, the Lead Server Solutions Engineer plays a crucial role in the development and execution of testing strategies, installation processes, documentation support, training initiatives, and vendor oversight for server-centric products.

This position involves planning and managing initial deployments, offering advanced support, and overseeing vendor relationships for server-based solutions. The engineer is responsible for designing and recommending modifications or enhancements to platforms to boost system stability, capacity, and scalability. They also provide comprehensive implementation planning, management, and support during production rollouts. Continuous monitoring and control of server resource performance and health are essential responsibilities. The engineer identifies and diagnoses issues affecting server performance and evaluates vendor proposals for standardizing hardware and software solutions. Recommendations for performance standards and policy changes are also part of the role.

PEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Leads departmental and enterprise-wide initiatives focusing on new technologies and improving existing systems. Coordinates incident response efforts from detection through to final resolution.
Offers third-level technical consulting to the Help Desk, application teams, business units, and internal stakeholders.
Acts as a mentor and role model for junior engineers, assisting in the training and onboarding of new team members.

SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Facilitates training and documentation for Help Desk personnel and Desktop Technicians.
Provides technical consultation on complex projects with server and data center requirements.
Conducts performance monitoring, technical support, and troubleshooting for servers.
Tests and deploys application packages and configurations, managing large-scale enterprise systems for all server and interface technologies.
Ensures data integrity through backup processes and takes a lead role in disaster recovery strategy, planning, and execution.

QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Performs monitoring, technical support, and advanced troubleshooting of servers. Enforces and ensures proper change management practices throughout the environment.
Maintains standards and documentation for server and storage environments.
Validates and upholds the security posture of all server engineering applications and modifications.

FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Researches and assesses vendor proposals for hardware standardization and software solutions.
Designs and evaluates usage to determine appropriate support for legacy systems.

GROWTH/INNOVATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Contributes to strategic and advanced planning, design, and implementation of server systems, virtualization, and hardware.
Maintains a keen awareness of emerging technologies and trends in server systems and hardware platforms. Proactively manages personal professional development and completes an Individual Development Plan (IDP).
