A Chemical Engineer with expertise in hydroprocessing is sought to provide support to refinery clients primarily in North America as a Principal or Senior Technical Services Engineer.

Position Summary

The Principal or Senior Technical Services Engineer possesses a solid foundation in hydroprocessing applications. This role requires familiarity with the processes and operations of hydroprocessing units, alongside a comprehensive understanding of catalysts, kinetics, and their applications in commercial settings.

Role Responsibilities

This full-time hybrid position for a Principal or Senior Technical Services Engineer is based in Houston, TX. The selected candidate will be responsible for managing daily operations related to clients' hydroprocessing units and utilizing proprietary models to analyze catalyst performance, unit operations, and forecast potential catalyst replacements for industrial facilities.

  • Develop technical proposals and reports in collaboration with Account Managers.
  • Assist in troubleshooting scenarios.
  • Innovate and refine methodologies for catalyst calculations.
  • Advise clients on optimizing operations and catalyst usage.
  • Represent Topsoe at relevant conferences.
  • Support the sales process during technical and sales meetings.
  • Oversee catalyst loading and unit start-up processes.
  • Foster a strong commitment to safety and zero harm principles.
  • Travel up to 30% of the time annually for on-site jobs and client meetings.
  • Engage in internal training, knowledge sharing, and technical meetings with our regional offices and headquarters worldwide.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Willingness to relocate to the Houston area.
  • Experience in refineries, particularly in hydroprocessing applications.
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on data.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; knowledge of Machine Learning is advantageous.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting with a methodical approach.
  • Flexibility to travel within North America and occasionally beyond, up to 60-90 days per year.
  • Adaptable and solution-oriented in interactions and tasks.
  • Demonstrates initiative, trust, and open communication.
