General Overview: This role is focused on identifying, pursuing, and securing business opportunities by offering a range of services and equipment tailored for railroad clients and industries that utilize rail transport within a designated region.

Reports To: This position does not have any direct reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acquire new clients, maintain existing accounts, and drive revenue growth within the assigned region while exploring diversification opportunities.
  • Conduct thorough research to evaluate and understand customer requirements.
  • Coordinate sales initiatives with operational teams to ensure timely, complete, and profitable service delivery.
  • Engage with clients on-site and at various locations to guarantee satisfaction.
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of the market landscape, including the railroad sector, environmental services, economic conditions, and competitive dynamics within the assigned territory.
  • Generate business prospects by preparing bids, securing subcontractors, arranging rental equipment, and providing pricing insights to support proposal development, along with obtaining purchase orders for payment.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safety regulations.
  • Support strategic initiatives for major business accounts through collaboration with National Account Managers, Marketing, and operational teams.
  • Keep records of bids, potential opportunities, sales pipeline, and customer contact details within the CRM system.
  • Perform additional related duties as necessary.

Qualifications:

Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

Licensure: Valid Driver's License with a clean driving history.

Experience: Prior experience in outside sales with a focus on account management and growth is essential.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Exceptional ability to convey technical information clearly to diverse audiences, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient multitasking abilities; strong communication, decision-making, analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven capability in prospecting sales opportunities.
  • Commitment to customer and company satisfaction.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
  • Proficient in closing sales and demonstrating tangible results.
  • Experience in coaching and team development.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Dynamics CRM.

Travel Requirements: Must be available for 24-hour on-call duty and willing to travel within the assigned territory, including occasional overnight stays.

Interactions: This position involves collaboration with company staff, management, customers, potential clients, contract personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
