CAREER OPPORTUNITY:

Lead Project Engineer:
Oversee all stages of capital and operational projects from inception to completion, ensuring the distribution of final project documentation. Provide engineering support for Maintenance and Operations activities while aligning with overall mill objectives concerning safety, environmental standards, and other critical factors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage, develop, and execute multiple capital and maintenance projects concurrently.

Specific project duties encompass design, scope formulation, cost estimation, scheduling, and construction oversight.

Assess and propose alternatives to achieve long-term objectives while collaborating with Operations, Maintenance, Procurement, and Legal teams.

Create a detailed Project Execution Plan that encompasses design, risk management, budgeting, and scheduling.

Collaborate with Procurement and Legal partners to formulate precise specifications, solicit bids, evaluate proposals, and award contracts.

Supervise third-party vendors, including construction contractors, equipment suppliers, engineering firms, technical specialists, and construction managers.


Engage with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) and operational and maintenance stakeholders to establish a pre-startup safety review (PSSR) to guide each project's commissioning and startup strategy.

Submit completed PSSR documentation prior to project initiation.

Utilize project management controls throughout the execution of capital projects, including cost estimation, scheduling, cash flow forecasting, and reporting.

Develop and oversee maintenance programs for facility infrastructure.

Provide technical insights for mechanical equipment failure analysis and preservation strategies.

Draft, review, and update mill specifications.

Offer technical guidance to assess and approve "management of change" proposals.

Support and engage in all mill safety and environmental initiatives and activities.

  • Contribute to achieving overall mill objectives by participating in special teams or providing necessary technical assistance.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience in an industrial manufacturing setting.
  • Experience in the paper industry is preferred.
