Position Overview – Senior Electrical Engineer
This role involves overseeing and facilitating the execution of capital initiatives across the facility.
The incumbent will play a vital role in enhancing the electrical reliability and operational improvements within the plant.
Accountable for the outcomes of projects, including safety standards, budget adherence, timelines, reliability, and technical performance of assigned tasks.
- Oversee both large-scale and minor capital and repair initiatives from inception to execution.
- Support the reliability of the Power Distribution system, including the definition, assessment, and coordination of preventative and predictive maintenance tasks.
- Assist in maintaining essential databases and records related to coordination, short circuit analysis, power flow, stability, and ARC Flash for the Electrical Power Distribution system.
- Contribute to the formulation of annual budgets for capital improvement programs.
- Participate in the creation of a comprehensive 5-year capital strategy.
- Adhere to processes for project delivery and the formulation of capital investment proposals.
- Plan, schedule, and monitor project timelines, costs, and milestones effectively.
- Manage all detailed design and construction phases of assigned projects.
- Responsible for all facets of Contractor Management, including safety, quality, scheduling, and cost control on assigned projects.
- Coordinate various process design activities, including equipment sizing, development of PFDs and P&IDs, loop sheets, E/I diagrams, single line diagrams, process control, instrument specifications, and operational/maintenance manuals.
- Review and comprehend equipment and instrumentation/electrical specifications to ensure compliance with regulatory standards during procurement and installation.
- Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams on scope development and execution.
- Organize and lead multi-disciplinary project teams, ensuring safe and successful project implementation.
- Assist in the checkout and startup processes.
- Proactively manage project scope changes, identify potential challenges, and develop contingency strategies.
- Provide project status updates to the project team and management.
- Offer problem-solving support to operational and maintenance teams.
- Assist in the training and development of Technicians.
- Minimum qualifications: At least 5 years of experience in operations or a similar manufacturing environment in an electrical role.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with a preference for candidates with 5 years of electrical experience.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with mill teams, project teams, and management.
