Position Overview:
The Senior Electrical Engineer will serve as the electrical engineering subject matter expert for RYAM's operations.

Your responsibilities will include managing, planning, and executing the design, development, and repair of comprehensive electrical and instrumentation systems to ensure power supply throughout the facility.

You will provide expert-level planning, design, development, implementation, documentation, support, and enhancement of mill electrical and instrumentation systems.

Key Responsibilities:
- Review and provide insights on electrical designs, construction drawings, and installation protocols.
- Collaborate with project teams to maintain installation consistency across the facility.
- Identify and share relevant industry standards with project teams.
- Lead the creation of new equipment specifications for various applications.
- Define project boundaries and scope for power system studies and approve electrical study deliverables.

- Offer subject matter expertise and consultation during construction phases to resolve design-related challenges, advise on quality assurance issues, and conduct pre-startup inspections.

- Actively engage in planning and executing complex field projects, working with project engineers to develop detailed risk mitigation strategies for systems handling process loads. Review electrical testing outcomes.
- Prepare comprehensive feasibility studies, project appropriation requests, economic analyses, and cost estimates for modifications and additions. Collaborate with consulting engineering firms on larger, more intricate projects.

- Provide expertise for electrical and instrumentation maintenance functions, focusing on reliability enhancement through condition monitoring systems, troubleshooting, repair design, and planning, while directly supervising both hourly mechanics and contractors.

- Oversee the preparation of drawings for assigned capital and other projects. Select equipment and materials for new mill facilities and modifications. Evaluate equipment and contract specifications and bid packages, making informed recommendations. Assist other Project Engineers in their respective fields.
- Supervise contractor fieldwork and advise maintenance supervision on assigned project fieldwork. Coordinate with purchasing, traffic, and receiving for the delivery of new equipment and materials. Ensure successful completion of all project phases within budgetary constraints.
- Investigate various equipment issues, focusing on material selection, equipment improvement, and repair versus replacement analyses. Inspect mill equipment during shutdowns.

Evaluate equipment deterioration and failures, recommending necessary actions to reduce or eliminate failures and ensure the safe condition of potentially hazardous equipment.

Ensure comprehensive documentation of all project phases, including project costs, equipment manuals and drawings, material certifications, etc.

Procure spare parts and coordinate training for mechanics, electricians, and operators as needed for new equipment and systems.
- Prepare cost estimates, equipment evaluations, project appropriation requests (PARs), and designs for multidisciplinary projects. Responsible for the completion and cost management of all assigned projects.

Qualifications:
- BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with 8+ years of electrical experience in an industrial setting.
- Experience in pulp or paper operations is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with mill teams, project teams, and management.
- Results-oriented, energized by challenges; demonstrates strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, innovation, and creativity.
- Capable of leading productive meetings, including those with external agencies, and presenting in public forums.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and remain flexible.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in reading, analyzing, and interpreting technical procedures, governmental regulations, professional journals, and periodicals.
- Demonstrated proficiency in job-related software; knowledge of Excel, Word, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, EasyPower, and SAP is desirable.

- Present information and respond to inquiries from individuals, groups, or management; communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

- Utilize advanced mathematics and apply engineering principles and theories.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.
