Position Overview:
The Senior Electrical Engineer will serve as the electrical engineering expert for RYAM's operations. You will oversee, strategize, and execute the design, development, and maintenance of comprehensive electrical and instrumentation systems essential for plant operations.

Your Role in the Electrical Engineering Department:
- Evaluate and provide insights on electrical designs, construction drawings, and installation protocols.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure uniformity in installations throughout the facility.
- Identify relevant industry standards for project teams.
- Lead the creation of new equipment specifications for various applications.
- Define project boundaries and scope for power system studies, reviewing and approving electrical study outputs.

- Offer expertise and guidance during construction to resolve design-related challenges, advise on quality assurance issues, and conduct pre-startup inspections.
- Actively engage in planning and executing complex field projects, collaborating with project engineers to develop detailed risk mitigation strategies for systems handling process loads.
- Analyze electrical test results.

- Prepare comprehensive feasibility studies, project funding requests, economic assessments, and cost estimates for modifications and additions.
- Collaborate with consulting engineering firms on larger, more intricate projects.

- Provide expertise for the electrical and instrumentation maintenance operations, focusing on reliability enhancement through condition monitoring systems, troubleshooting, repair design, and planning, along with supervising both hourly staff and contractors.

- Oversee the preparation of drawings for assigned projects, select equipment and materials for new facilities and modifications, and evaluate equipment and contract specifications and bid packages.

- Supervise contractor activities on-site, advise maintenance teams on project-related fieldwork, and coordinate with procurement for the delivery of new equipment and materials.

- Ensure successful completion of all project phases within budgetary constraints.
- Investigate equipment issues related to material selection, equipment improvement, and repair versus replacement assessments. Conduct inspections of mill equipment during scheduled downtimes.

- Assess equipment wear and failures, recommending necessary actions to minimize failures and ensure the safe operation of potentially hazardous equipment.

- Ensure thorough documentation of all project phases, including costs, equipment manuals, drawings, and material certifications.

- Manage spare parts procurement and coordinate training for mechanics, electricians, and operators on new systems and equipment.

- Prepare cost estimates, equipment evaluations, project funding requests, and designs for multidisciplinary projects, ensuring completion and cost management of all assigned projects.


Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with over 8 years of electrical experience in an industrial setting.
- Experience in pulp or paper operations is advantageous.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage with mill teams, project teams, and management.
- Results-driven and motivated by challenging situations; demonstrates strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, along with creativity and innovation.
- Capable of leading productive meetings, including those with external agencies, and presenting in public forums.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in reading, analyzing, and interpreting technical documents, regulations, and professional literature.
- Demonstrated proficiency in job-related software including Excel, Word, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, EasyPower, and SAP is preferred.

Present information and respond to inquiries from individuals, groups, or management effectively, both verbally and in writing. Utilize advanced mathematics and apply engineering principles and theories. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills are essential.
