Position Overview

Compensation: $11,440 throughout the service term.

Role Title: Youth Program AmeriCorps Member (Half-time, 900 hours)

Role Summary

The Youth Program AmeriCorps Member will contribute to Our House's out-of-school initiative, serving a diverse group of youth from Kindergarten through 12th grade. This program operates daily after school and during school breaks, including a comprehensive summer program. The member will play a vital role in organizing and executing engaging activities, ensuring a safe environment, assisting with academic support, and fostering a positive atmosphere for all participants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage directly with youth during program hours across various age groups.
  • Provide academic assistance and support to students in need.
  • Design and implement activities in areas such as STEM, Arts, Health, and Life Skills.
  • Encourage parental involvement through organized events.
  • Collaborate with fellow AmeriCorps members and staff to achieve program goals.
  • Participate in community service events and additional projects as directed.
  • Attend regular meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Complete necessary background checks as mandated.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Assist in community outreach efforts to promote the AmeriCorps program.
  • Support initiatives that build a culture of service within the community.
Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be at least 17 years old, U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents, and possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Candidates should have a passion for youth development and a commitment to the mission of Our House.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have a background in youth development or relevant coursework, along with a positive attitude and a desire to serve as role models for youth.

Service Environment

This position involves both indoor and outdoor activities and requires physical engagement with children aged 5-17.

Evaluation Process

Members will undergo evaluations at mid-term and end-of-term, submit hours bi-weekly, and participate in monthly meetings.
